About my work/

My conceptual work moves between performance, photography, video, sculpture and installation.

I often start from everyday – often nostalgic – objects, actions or materials that normally receive little attention: a Sacred Heart statue from the attic, an old-fashioned game of bingo, or unravelled balls of wool. By taking them out of their familiar context, enlarging, distorting or even destroying them, I try to make visible what lies behind them. At the same time, I explore how memories embed themselves in materials, bodies and habits.

The passage of time plays an important role in this. Many works slowly change shape, dissolve, melt away, or are literally taken apart during a performance. I use that physical transformation to make themes such as vulnerability, memory and loss tangible.

My work invites the viewer – often with some humour – to look again at what normally remains self-evident or invisible.
