“I didn’t become an artist; I had been one for as long as I can remember.”
Since the late 1990s I have worked in advertising for international agencies and corporate brands. In 2020 I decided to give my autonomous work, under the name LAR [by Marianne Robben], more room. In June 2026 I graduate from the Nieuwe Akademie Utrecht: a five-year part-time programme in autonomous art. That period has sharpened my creative mind and made my work interdisciplinary and personal.
Working from the Netherlands, LAR develops ideas in an interdisciplinary and conceptual way, taking shape in performances, photography, video, sculptures and installations. For questions, collaborations, a catalogue or acquisitions, you are welcome to get in touch. I would love to hear from you.
