Chandelier/

A cluster of water bottles, cast in ice, hangs like a glassy-looking chandelier from metal chains in the space. What normally spreads light is here only weight and cold. The bottles look like plastic filled with water, but consist solely of frozen water. As the ice slowly melts, the work inevitably changes shape. Drops fall, the contours blur and the volume shrinks until nothing remains. The sculpture plays with the contrast of solid form versus liquid. But also with that of luxury versus the everyday, whereby a plastic bottle is temporarily elevated to something precious and classical. It is all short-lived: the melting chandelier lasts only a single day.
