Medium Installation

‘(Don’t) do it’ is an installation of five panels in which I challenge the audience to think about acting versus waiting. Each panel shows an object in a field of tension: as a visitor, do you keep your hands off the work, or do you intervene? Do you look at the balloon, or do you pop it? Are you good or naughty? The work plays with the choice between preservation and change, and questions the role of the artist and the viewer: is an artwork finished as soon as it is presented, or may it evolve through interaction? The installation deliberately stays unclear about the artist’s intention, confronting viewers with their own norms and boundaries regarding art.
